Rumours have been circulating online for a while now that Apple is planning to produce yet another budget version of one of their flagship phones. However, now fans of the iPhone will be happy to hear that official specs and details have been announced regarding the latest device, and it has been received with mixed reactions.
Specifically, this new iPhone has been dubbed the second-generation iPhone SE and sees the original SE’s cheap price handed down to it. As for what you get from the tech conglomerate’s humbler device, the second-gen SE arrives with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, a home button with Touch ID and some thicker bezels than what we are now used to. Unlike the original SE, 2020’s iteration will allow for Qi wireless charging and has its 5.45-inch frame constructed from a combination of glass and aluminium.
As for the positives, the latest iPhone does, in fact, utilise Apple’s new A13 Bionic processor, something which has been present in Apple’s iPhone 11 and 11 Pro. With this extra computing power, the iPhone SE offers Smart HDR capabilities on the 12-megapixel wide-angle rear camera. The front boasts new functionality such as Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting effects. Last but not least, Apple has stated that the second-generation “Special Edition” iPhone will also shoot 4K video at 60fps, and features slo-mo, time-lapse, and cinematic video stabilization in both front and rear lenses.
