With Marvel and Sony hashing out a deal regarding the rights to Spider-Man and other character’s within the beloved comic-book universe, Sony looks like they have successfully held on to Venom for a sequel following the financial success of the anti-hero’s first film.

To be precise, the news was officially confirmed by Amy Pascal, a Sony producer who stated that we can expect Tom Hardy to return to the infamous role, saying that “Tom Hardy will be back” before adding: “magnificently playing that character as no one else can.”

This was something that no one could quite predict, as although the movie received a number of reviews which wouldn’t have been positive enough to spark a Venom sequel, it did rake in over $205,000,000 during its box office debut. The money, paired with the positive reception of Tom Hardy filling the role, was enough to convince Sony that they could build on this. Something which could potentially lead to the creation of their own hit franchise as long as the needed adjustments from the first flick are made.

Furthermore, given the fact that Pascal also mentioned “big plans” to introduce Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man into the Venom world, it won’t be hard for the next film to be a highly-anticipated one. If you are excited about the next Venom then make sure you stay tuned as we will keep you up to date will all of the details as they are announced.
