It was 40 years ago that the surf and streetwear brand, Stüssy, was born. Created by Shawn Stussy himself, the brand was set to become one of the most iconic labels in the scene, staying relevant and supported while seeing other big names come and go over the decade.
In order to celebrate this feat, Stüssy has looked to join forces with a fellow industry giant, that being the Japanese streetwear brand that is Comme des Garçons. As you would expect, the duo is looking to revamp the California-based label’s signature Varsity Jacket, consequently covering it in dark hues and attractive patches.
To be more precise, the jacket has been constructed from black Melton wool, on top of which sit chenille patches of popular CDG items. As well as this, the piece features a larger patch on the back depicting a geometric Surfer holding a “CDG” branded surfboard. Last but not least, fine details and dual branding rounds the design off.
Take a look at the Stüssy x COMME des GARÇONS 40th-Anniversary Varsity Jacket below, if you like what you see then head to CDG or Stüssy’s online store on the 15th of January at 6 p.m. GMT to cop it for yourself.
