Sony Hope to Release Wearable Air Conditioner

Sony‘s First Flight crowdfunding platform has recently unveiled its latest venture that needs backing, and interestingly it takes the form of a wearable air conditioner.

Specifically, the device dubbed the ‘Reon Pocket’ is designed to help those who have a problem with the weather, and although it primarily aims to keep you cool, the designers are confident that it will be able to heat you up to a comfortable temperature also. Impressively, the First Flight website states that the Reon will be capable of lowering the user’s body temperature by approximately 23 degrees Fahrenheit or, like mentioned earlier, can raise it up to 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

As for what to expect, the Reon Pocket is about the size of your average wallet and fits into a custom undershirt that is designed for maximum cooling. From here the Reon Pocket can be controlled via Bluetooth, consequently allowing you to select your desired temperature while on the go via your smartphone.

Just recently the crowdfunding campaign got 100% backed, meaning that the air conditioner will start shipping to customers in Japan next March. The starting price is listed at ¥12,760 – roughly £95 – for the Reon Pocket Lite or ¥14,080 – around £105 – for the Reon Pocket. Visit the campaign’s website here.
