After Ben Affleck’s role as Batman came to a rather abrupt end, fans of the franchise immediately started wondering who could be the next actor to fill the iconic shoes. Well, with a surplus of rumours it was hard to figure out which candidates were real and which were simply speculation, that was until now.
Specifically, Friday saw Warner Bros studios confirming to Variety that none other than Robert Pattinson had beaten the rest of the candidates, the closest call supposedly being between him and Nicholas Hoult, consequently titling him as the new Batman.
As for what this means, it appears that Pattinson has agreed to a film titled The Batman, a take on the character that will see the director, Matt Reeves, put together an entirely new take on the iconic franchise. Interestingly, filming is expected to kick off in late 2019 or early 2020, consequently, the studio has announced a release date of the 25th of June, 2021.
