It was back in 2017 that the Chinese tech conglomerate that is Huawei overtook Apple for the first time in order to be crowned the second most productive phone manufacturer in the world. However, now after facing a number of ups and downs throughout 2018, it looks like Apple might be at the #3 spot for a little while.
Specifically, Huawei went from shipping 39.3 million phones during the first 3 months of 2018 to a staggering 59.1 million shipments in the same period in 2019. On the other hand, Apple went from selling 52.2 million last year to what’s estimated to be approximately 35 million this year. As for why this is just an estimate, Apple interestingly stopped reporting its iPhone sales in all of its future earnings reports without much explanation. As for who was on top, Samsung stood strong with 78.2 million shipments before decreasing its figures to 71.9 million.
