America’s National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, recently announced plans of theirs to send astronauts to the moon making it the first human journey to the rock since 1972.
Specifically, NASA stated that with help from the private sector they aim to not only just arrive and then leave the surface but actually create a mission that will lead to ongoing investigations and experiments. In fact, in a statement Jim Bridenstine, a NASA Administrator, had this to say: “So, we’re not going back to the moon to leave flags and footprints and then not go back for another 50 years. We’re going to go sustainably. To stay. With landers and robots and rovers — and humans.”
Apart from this details are pretty limited, that isn’t too surprising as they are aiming for a launch date of around 2028. However, what NASA have said is that they are ready to receive boundary-pushing ideas from companies regarding ideas for new space vehicles such as lunar vessels, landers and more.
