The global tech conglomerate that is Apple has found itself in a few sticky situations in recent times, and it looks like the trend is set to continue as the company appears to have to pay back over half a billion in taxes to France.
Specifically, friction occurred after the likes of Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook were reportedly paying just around 10% in taxes in their Europe-based quarters despite those countries requiring over 20%. Consequently, Apple France had their finances investigated and they concluded that if the company paid back over $571 million then they could call it quits.
From here Apple doesn't have many options, essentially they will have to pay up and hope their next device sells more than their iPhone XS/XS Max.
