It appears that the global home decor supplier that is IKEA are hard at work with NASA‘s Mars research station in order to design and create a new space-inspired collection titled ‘RUMTID.’ Specifically, the project aims to provide solutions to those living in small-space apartments or rooms and does so by incorporating modular functionality into the four piece product range.

As for the products themselves, the collection revolves around the issues of time, space, water and air, consequently leading to products such as a forward-thinking air purifier, an indoor terrarium pod, nontraditional lighting and a modular furniture system made of a new lightweight veneer material that is produced using recycled wood and bi-products. Take a look at the designs below, if you like what you see then unfortunately we have some bad news for you as IKEA and NASA’s ‘RUMTID’ collection isn’t going to hit IKEA stores until 2020, it should hopefully be worth the wait though.
