Rhode’s London-based art gallery is set to receive a new exhibition from Nick Smith, a contemporary creative who is most notably known for his pixelated works.

Specifically, Smith creates eye-catching pieces from hand placing colour-chips, synonymous with colour swatches, in a grid, consequently producing “low-quality” versions of iconic symbols, images, individuals and artwork. Often, across these chips read sentences, with the clever combination of text and image creating intriguing and provocative collaged works.

Thanks to lockdown, Nick Smith was able to finish off his latest collection of work, ‘Pioneers’, turning to Rhodes Contemporary Art to host a solo show for it. Thematically, the exhibition explores and remasters canonised North American art and culture, from Grant Wood, Edward Hopper and Chuck Close to The Simpsons. It is a celebration of iconic American art and design.

If you would like to visit Nick Smith’s Pioneer exhibition then make sure you book ahead of time, you can do so via Rhode’s website. The show will be running between the 22nd of October to the 28th of November 2020.
