The talented New York-based artist that is Martin Wong has recently become the next creative to team with the skate and streetwear powerhouse, Supreme. Interestingly, the project is arriving shortly after Supreme’s venture into San Fransico, Martin’s stomping ground in his younger days.
As for what to expect from the collection, the duo have focused on the style of art that Martin developed once he moved from San Fransico to New York. There he observed his urban environment through the lens of his Hispanic-dominant neighbourhood. Consequently, the eery depiction of bricks, buildings, streetlights and cramped bedrooms have been merged with a number of Supreme-references to give an authentic but modern look.
Specifically, the designs make their way to shirts, long and short-sleeve tees, beanies and even two skate decks. Take a look at the collection below, if you like what you see then head over to Supreme’s online store or one of their many flagship stores in order to cop your favourite. The range drops on the 14th of November with the exception of Japan that will see a later release of the 16th.
Wong would eventually pass away in his home town of San Francisco, he dies in 1994 at the age of 53 due to his complications with AIDS.
