Scientists predict that within as little as five years people could have the option to simply buy super-intelligence through brain implants that are being developed as we speak.

One of these scientists is Dr. Moran Cerf, a Northwestern University neuroscientist and business professor who is interestingly working on a device that could help do just that. As for how it would work, the chip would provide the brain with a direct internet connection that would effectively expand the user’s mind’s computing power and memory capabilities to that of the internet, something that would make those who have it almost God-like figures in comparrison to your average Joe.

In fact, Cerf – who is currently working alongside some major companies on the tech – said that you could instinctively go a site such as Wikipedia meaning that when you think of a particular question you just instantly receive the answer.

However, Cerf isn’t the only one try to acheive this, Mark Zuckerburg and Elon Musk are also trying to develop similar technologies. On the topic Cerf actually said:

“Everyone is spending a lot of time right now trying to find ways to get things into the brain without drilling a hole in your skull,”

“Can you eat something that will actually get to your brain? Can you eat things in parts that will assemble inside your head?”

This was before he moved onto the more thought-provoking topic…

“This is no longer a science problem. This is a social problem.”

“[Those who have their brain chipped could] make money by just thinking about the right investments, and we cannot; so they’re going to get richer, they’re going to get healthier, they’re going to live longer.”

To show just how bigger difference the devices could make listen to this: The average IQ of an intelligent monkey is approximately 70 points, that is significantly lower than that of the average human which comes in at around 100, and much, much lower than that of someone considered a genius who will usually score around 140. The problem arises that People with a smart chip could be scoring IQs of around 200 with ease, something that would consequently mean that interacting with anyone of average intelligence would be like conversing with a child.

“Are they going to say, ‘Look at this cute human, Stephen Hawking. He can do differential equations in his mind, just like a little baby with 160 IQ points. Isn’t it amazing? So cute. Now let’s put it back in a cage and give it bananas,’”
