The American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur and fashion designer that is Kanye West is known to be difficult at times, however, some people believe the fashion and music mogul took it too far as the reason he wouldn’t play Coachella was made public.
Specifically, the co-founder of the event, Paul Tollett, was asked by West to create and install a custom dome designed by his set designer, John McGuire, in the middle of the festival. However, after this was labelled as impossible by Tollet due to the 4-month deadline and the fact that it would have required the organisers to rearrange the majority of the festival’s site while also removing a large section of portable bathrooms. Consequently, Kanye apparently got frustrated and stated to Tollet on the phone call that he was an “artist with a creative vision who shouldn’t be spending his time talking about port-a-potties.”
Due to this last minute disagreement, the organisers looked elsewhere for headliners, less than 24-hours later they were able to secure Ariana Grande.
