After a 9-year wait it appears that we can finally expect another look into the world of Zombieland and the characters within as Sony Pictures has announced that the film’s original cast and director are set to team up for a sequel. Specifically, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin have all made a return to their characters in order to reunite the group many found entertaining all those years ago. As for behind the camera, expect the original writers, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, are also set to comeback in conjunction with the first film’s director as well as the man steering the ship for the new ‘Venom’ movie, Ruben Fleischer.
As for what the studio had to say, Sanford Panitch, the president of Columbia Pictures, stated: “This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time – and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse, and Abigail,” before later implying that the reason why it didn’t happen sooner was simply due to the increase in demand for the actors. If you are excited then i’m afraid you will have to sit tight as the movie is set to go into production in January and will be released in October 2019, around the 10th anniversary of the first film.
