For those who have seen Avengers: Infinity War you will be aware of Thanos’ infamous finger snap in which he irradicated half of the Universe’s population instantly. Well, it seems like a Reddit community known as the ‘ThanosDidNothingWrong’ subreddit took this concept and ran with it by recreating Thanos’ act in part by planning to carry out the biggest Reddit ban of all time, and spoiler alert, they succeeded.
As for how they did this, fans of the Marvel Universe subscribed to the subreddit knowing full well that on the 10th of July the page would go through all the users and ban half of them via a computer program that was made specifically with this purpose in mind. This was initiated by the Thanos actor, Josh Brolin, uploading a video of him snapping his fingers, the purge was then live streamed and raked in over 2.5 million viewers on Twitch before all of those who were banned were asked to join the subreddit ‘InTheSoulStone’ for full authenticity.
