At E3 there were various announcements by Epic Games, however, I don’t think any of them are as exciting as the fact that the game and software development corporation is set to run a World Cup tournament throughout the 2018-19 season. Specifically, leading up to the event there will be a number of qualification games in order to decide who will have a position in the World Cup itself, meaning that anyone of any skill level can try and make it to the tournament. Furthermore, don’t worry, as if you get knocked out of the solo there will also be a duos competition too.
As well as the World Cup, Epic Games revealed plans to hold more online and community-run tournaments that will of course be funded by the $100 million invested by Epic Games themselves. This however is pocket change to the company as it was recently found that they were making up to $300 million a month, not bad for a game that’s free!
