As a way of celebrating those inspirational women, the strides society has taken to represent and treat women fairer and International Women’s Day in general McDonald’s has decided to temporarily flip their renowned Golden Arches upside-down in order to produce the letter “W” – obviously due to it being the first letter within “women”.

Wendy Lewis, the chief diversity officer of McDonald’s stated: “For the first time in our brand history, we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day in honour of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere and especially in our restaurants.” further adding, “From restaurant crew and management to our C-suite of senior leadership, women play invaluable roles at all levels, and together with our independent franchise owners, we’re committed to their success.”

Although it appears the change will only be made in select locations – likely due to the practicality of things – we salute McDonald’s for their actions.
