J-RACKS
-
Born in the South East area of London, J-Racks has been able to demonstrate a range of lyrical ability since he first burst on to the scene. Still early in his career, J-Racks has consistently proved that he is one to watch as his musical presence continues to grow. We had the opportunity to send some questions his way, here is what he had to say.
HOW ARE YOU DOING?
I’m good. I’ve been doing what I need to do and also looking after myself so everything’s bless.
HOW WAS LOCKDOWN FOR YOU? DID IT AFFECT YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS AND MENTAL HEALTH FOR THE BETTER OR WORSE?
Nah it was just a new experience, I learned to start embracing it as we got deeper into it, so I was able to make better use of my time. I’d say for the better because it was challenging but I still came out on top.
IF LONDON IS NUMBER ONE FOR DRILL, WHAT CITIES ARE NUMBER TWO AND THREE?
Probably Chicago and New York.
IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE A LOT OF FANS IN AUSTRALIA, DO YOU KNOW WHY THEY HAVE SO MUCH LOVE FOR YOUR MUSIC? DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY TO THEM?
Yea big up Australia, I’ve been getting some love from over there and I’m very grateful for that. I’m just waiting for the right opportunity to head down there and then I’d be able to find out myself and thank them in person.
WITH DRILL MUSIC BECOMING INCREASINGLY MORE POPULAR, WHAT’S YOUR ADVICE TO THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO STAND OUT AS ARTISTS?
Always to be yourself. You will always stand out by just being you because you’re an original and there isn’t anyone else who is you.
WHAT'S YOUR PROUDEST CAREER MOMENT?
I’m not sure about the proudest but a highlight would be when I hit one million streams. Simply because I remember being happy when I hit one thousand streams, so it was good to see the progression and receive a similar feeling.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE TOUGHEST PART OF YOUR CAREER? HOW DID YOU GET THROUGH IT?
Finding a sound that people want to hear from you. This can take a while and you never know when you’ll find the answer for it, but you just have to work through it with blind faith. And that’s what I did and that’s what I’m still doing.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY TO THOSE WHO THINK DRILL MUSIC GLAMORIZES DAMAGING LIFESTYLES?
Don’t listen to it if you are not a fan of it.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE CEREAL?
Lol, Malty marshmallows. It’s like a fake lucky charms but It does taste better than the original.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM YOU IN 2022?
The unexpected.
