Vans is bringing everyone closer, to rebuild and revitalise communities across the world in honour of Vans Checkerboard Day. For 2021 Vans have teamed up with the global non-profit organisation, DoSomething.org to encourage young people to take action through arts and culture.
This year Vans will support 16 charities from around the world in their mission to revitalise public spaces through arts, sports, culture and social impact programming by donating $1 million USD. Each organisation will receive $50,000 USD from Vans through the Tides Foundation or via a direct donation from Vans to use towards their mission.
In London this year, grassroots community skatepark, Hackney Bumps are using their $50,000 USD donation to build a new obstacle. They tasked their local community to submit designs for the new obstacle and are inviting the public to skate it on the day.
As well as Hackney Bumps, Vans will be supporting Juju Surf Club, Indigo Youth Movement, Girls in Film, Jukebox Collective, GoodPush, Groundswell, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Colectivo Tomate, Nations Skate Youth, Dignity for Children, Another Way of Seeing, ArtDream, Skateboard Academy and The Hub.
Vans Checkerboard Day 2021 will be held on November 18th 2021. You can find out more information on what is going on in your local area to support them on the Vans Website. You can also see more information on the Hackney Bumps event below.
