The Norwegian hip-hop collective that is GiddyGang recently shared a brand new track, and sadly the cut appears to be incredibly underrated. Specifically, the song titled ’Told Me’ was released today and sees the group collaborate with South African/Norwegian rapper, Vuyo.
The track is a love story written by the collective’s vocalist, Sarah, for the band’s producer and drummer, Sigmund, to whom Sarah is now engaged to. Reflecting the track’s dream-like soundscapes, the visual is a DIY-style hazy and laid back video that follows the band and Vuyo for a day as they perform the track to the camera.
Vocalist, Sarah, said the following when it comes to the track: “Told Me’ was one of the first songs from the EP that I wrote. I had a hard time focusing and writing and started reflecting on my and Sigmund’s relationship, and how he just stays around always acting super calm and patient no matter what we (or I) go through. It’s a little love song dedicated to my best friend and the journey from first getting to know each other to where we are today.”
As for Vuyo, he said the following regarding his verse: “I wanted to take an unconventional approach to a love song. I wrote it like I was a start-up and I wanted my crush to buy into my elevator pitch.”
