The popular game developer and distributor that is Valve are looking to make ten Counter Strike-loving artists very, very happy.
As for how, Valve are kicking off a $1M competition in which they will be dolling out $100k to the creators of their ten favourite homemade weapon skins. ‘Counter Strike: Global Offensive’ has always had a massive community supporting the game, and most of this community are actively trading and looking to find new in-game weapon skins. To keep this interest up, Valve are constantly looking to add new designs and have even sourced them from the community before, but never has there been such a big financial reward.
Specifically, artists will have to stick to either a dream or nightmare-themed skin, but apart from that, the rules are fairly loose. Creators can submit as many designs as they’d like and people can participate individually or as a team. Consequently, it would potentially be possible for one person or team to have various winning designs.
Submissions grant Valve a non-exclusive license to utilize the design in Counter Strike: Global Offensive, meaning that creators will still own the rights to their designs. If you are interested in entering then all you have to do is make a Steam account, you will have until the 21st of October to submit their designs, winners will be contacted by the 21st of November.
