The “Godfather of Japanese Erotica” is an odd title but one that the Japanese artist, Toshio Saeki, was happy to have. Born in 1945 and raised in Osaka, Saeki quickly found his passion for drawing and storytelling.
Fast-forward to 1969 and the now Tokyo-based artist was begining to make a name for himself with the unique, expressive style of art he was exploring. Saeki’s work often fused Japanese folklore, Shinto spirits, gore, mischief, violence, humor and erotica all into one.
Before long, Saeki had his work featured in prominent magazines, had self-published a book of 50 drawings and thrown a solo show in Paris. It’s safe to say that whatever his subconscious motives were, they were producing successful works.
Forty years after Saeki moved to Tokyo and Supreme are looking to work with him on a collaborative collection. Sadly he passed away at the age of 74 before the project reached its completion. However, now it’s here, the collection consists of a Work Jacket, Hooded Sweatshirt and Work Pant.
As well as this, there is also a rumoured Nike Air Max Plus collab. As for what to expect, the latest sneakers from the longtime duo see the popular pair covered in a clean all-white colourway. The only exception to the rule is the red Swoosh branding on the lateral side and the Supreme bogo on the tongue.
You can take a look at the Supreme x Nike Air Max Plus below. If you want to cop the Nike or Toshio Saeki collaborations then make sure you head over to Supreme’s online store to cop your favourites. The release take’s place on the 5th of November, although Japan will see a later release of the 7th.
