I’m sure you have heard by now, COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus, has swept its way across the globe, even infecting British Primeminister, Boris Johnson. Consequently causing borders to close and governments to enforce social distancing practices.

In the UK, the NHS is at the front of everyone’s mind. The government and the people are doing all they can to alleviate any potential pressure to the system, as a result of the pandemic. People are being told to isolate themselves as much as possible and to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds, and frequently.

Today it was announced by Cabinet Officer Michael Gove, and to many people’s relief, that frontline doctors and nurses will be given tests for the Coronavirus. These tests will be offered to the staff immediately with plans to increase the tests offered next week. The tests will be able to tell which staff members have the virus, as cases can be symptomless, aiming to prevent any further spreading of COVID-19.

The tests will be rolled out to frontline workers in large hotspot areas such as London first. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have already been testing their Hospital workers.
