Daniel Hernandez is now known the world over as 6ix9ine after his career as a rapper and songwriter took off. However, Hernandez was grounded pretty quickly after the viral entertainer was arrested in November of 2018 along with fellow Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods members on charges of racketeering and firearms.
The prosecutors stated that 6ix9ine did in fact take part in a number of exploits ran by the gang as a way of gaining entrance and maintaining a position within their group. Daniel Hernandez pleaded guilty to armed robbery and drug trafficking but had his lengthy sentenced reduced due to his extensive cooperation with law enforcement before and after his arrest.
Specifically, in September 2019, Tekashi testified against several of his Nine Trey peers, later claiming that rapper Jim Jones was also a member of Nine Trey, and asserting that Cardi B was a member of the Bloods. Due to this and other details that were shared Tekashi 6ix9ine has received a fairly light prison sentence.
Inner City Press reported on the 18th of December that Federal Judge Paul Engelmayer sentenced the rapper to 24 months in prison, 300 community service hours and a $35,000 fine.
Judge Engelmayer: I impose 300 hours of community service when you get out, and a fine of $35,000. Mr Hernandez, the worst part is over. There is a great deal to be admired about you. You’re learned a hard lesson here. I wish you very very well. We are adjourned.
