In just a matter of months EA and Respawn Entertainment’s ‘Apex Legends‘ has become one of the most played games in recent times. In fact, after over doubling Fortnite’s record-setting number of downloads in a two-week period, the game has already found its way into college.

Specifically, Becker College has become the first educational institute to provide its students with the possibility to take part in a brand new eSports scholarship program. As for how this works, the program is being run in conjunction with Team Genji and Helix eSports and offers a one-time $5,000 scholarship to the college.

At the moment, high school juniors and seniors interested in the program must register via Team Genji and can further improve their chances of securing a scholarship place by making their way to the upcoming Helix eSports Apex Legends Combine Tournament in New Jersey. From here, those who have entered will chosen via a final evaluation given by members of Team Genji as well as staff from Becker College.

Timothy Loew, Becker College’s eSports general manager had this to say: “Our goal is to give top Apex Legends players a unique chance to combine their talents with an education.”
