Artificial intelligence has almost always been making headlines in the news in recent years as a never-ending stream of records and improvements are seemingly made in the industry.
Well, today is no difference, in fact, it’s not just an improvement that was made, but a world record. Specifically, a team of researchers in conjunction with the US Government have been able to adapt typical AI coding to be able to run on the world’s most powerful supercomputer. Consequently, the giant machine located at Oak Ridge National Lab titled “Summit” had the ability to run deep-learning algorithms at extraordinary speeds.
In fact, the supercomputer which is the size of around two tennis courts was able to execute processors at the speed of around a billion billion operations per second. I guess we will have to wait and see where this tech takes us.
