Although Samsung have made their fair number of innovations, we could possibly be looking at the future format of smartphones in its early stages. Specifically, the South Korean multinational tech conglomerate took to the stage at San francisco, where Justin Denison, a senior vice president of mobile product marketing, showed-off a prototype with a fold-out screen he said spanned 18.5cm diagonally.
As for what to expect exactly, the upcoming phone/tablet is rumoured to be called the Galaxy X or Galaxy F, with many theorising that the “F” may stand for “fold” or “flex.” Of course this fold and flex is what makes the device stand out, however, due to this tech being so innovative it was a big deal that Google’s head of Android UX, Glen Murphy, took to the stage to state that Samsung and Google would work with the developer community to bring more features to the phone.
However, it hasn’t been a complete success, in fact, many critics at the event stated that the thickness and price tag may put many possible buyers off. While others think that Samsung are just happy to be creating the first of what could define smartphones for the next few decades. Take a look at the device below and stay tuned for more info as the story develops.
