The creative photographer, Vicente Muñoz, has been hard at work on his ongoing series titled ‘Sublims’ in which he uses infrared photographs to explore the inevitable struggle of man against nature. Specifically, Muñoz uses chrome film photographs in a large format that use a sublimation on aluminium technique to highlight the fundamental separation between nature and the urban environment via colour in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil.

Interestingly, the specialized film was originally used to detect weapons and machinery in enemy territory, however, production of the film stopped in 2011 forcing Muñoz to scour the internet to find usable reels. Lucky for us he did and got to work producing 38 truly unique photos.
