Kurt Cobain was an American singer, songwriter, and musician who formed the band Nirvana and produced music that touched millions of people across the world and would continue to do so long after he tragically committed suicide on the 5th of April 1994. Since his death many of his personal belongings and works have acquired historic status and have been displayed to the public in museums and venues across the globe.  One of these places being the Aberdeen Museum of History. The museum is located at the birth place of the singer and held relics of Cobain’s such as posters, band T-shirts, a couch he slept on at a friend’s home from 1985, as well as a bench from outside his home in Seattle.

Well, unfortunately due to what is believed to be an electrical malfunction, a fire started at the building and spread to the point where almost all the items within were damaged either directly from the fire, or from the water the firemen used to douse it. Luckily no one was injured or killed in the incident but that doesn’t mean there were no tragic loses. Aberdeen Fire Chief Tom Hubbard said: “This is a devastating loss for the city.”
