Since the tragic events that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, there has been an undeniable shift in attitudes towards gun control and how vocal people are regarding the issue. However, there has also been a lot of chit-chat that this change has only been seen in the younger generation, although it looks like Gucci are set to prove this idea wrong.
Specifically, the Italian luxury brand pledged to make a hefty $500,000 donation to the upcoming March for Our Lives, a gun-control rally organized by the survivors of the shooting and planned for March 24 in Washington, D.C. and throughout the U.S. However, they aren’t the only ones, individuals such as Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, George and Amal Clooney and Jeffrey Katzenberg are all also on the list of those who have handed over a respectable $500,000 donation to the cause.
In a statement to WWD Gucci stated that: “We stand with March for Our Lives and the fearless students across the country who demand that their lives and safety become a priority,“ further adding “We have all been directly or indirectly impacted by these senseless tragedies.”
On top of this, the Creative Director Alessandro Michele of the label had this to say: “I am truly moved by the courage of these students,” finishing off with “My love is with them and it will be next to them on March 24. I am standing with March for Our Lives and the strong young women and men across the United States who are fighting for their generation and those to come.”
