Tyler, the Creator has shared another preview of his upcoming project, Chromakopia, set to release on October 28, which also coincides with Frank Ocean’s birthday. The latest track, “NOID,” follows “St. Chroma,” both of which are currently only available on YouTube and have yet to be added to streaming platforms.
Similar to the visuals for “St. Chroma,” the “NOID” video features Tyler as the central character, sporting a face mask and a horned haircut, which seem to be recurring elements of this album’s aesthetic. The video also stars Ayo Edebiri, portraying a fan whose erratic behaviour fuels Tyler’s paranoia. The video begins in black and white but switches to colour toward the end, coinciding with the shift in the music as the backing vocals intensify.
Musically, “NOID” conveys a sense of anxiety, driven by sharp guitar riffs and layered horns. The track samples Zambian musician Paul Ngozi, with Tyler stepping in to deliver a single verse in the middle of the song, which runs for about three minutes.
