Hublot and Takashi Murakami have continued their collaboration with the release of a new limited-edition timepiece, the MP-15 Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow. This latest iteration builds on the models unveiled last year, including a special edition for the Only Watch 2023 auction and a less colourful version released later.
The MP-15 Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow features Murakami’s iconic flower motif, crafted from polished sapphire with a transparent finish that allows a glimpse of the intricate mechanics inside. Measuring 42mm in diameter, the watch is adorned with gemstone-set petals, each corresponding to a different coloured hour marker. The design closely mirrors the Only Watch edition but with more distinct colours for each petal rather than the continuous gradient used in the auction piece. Both versions are set with 444 gemstones.
At the centre of the dial is Murakami’s hallmark smiley face, laser engraved onto the domed sapphire crystal. Beneath it lies the HUB9015 manual-winding tourbillon, which has been skeletonized to create the illusion of the mechanism floating within the case.
While the Only Watch edition sold for 420,000 CHF (approximately £397,268), this latest version is being produced in a limited run of 20 pieces, priced at £306,680 each. Further details can be found on Hublot’s official website.
