At Apple’s latest September event, dubbed “It’s Glowtime” and live-streamed from the Steve Jobs Theater, the company introduced a range of new products, including the iPhone 16 series, AirPods 4, and updates to the Apple Watch.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus were among the key announcements. The standard model features a 6.1-inch display, while the Plus comes with a larger 6.7-inch screen. Both phones are powered by Apple’s A18 chip, which brings Visual Intelligence, a feature that lets users point their cameras at objects to receive real-time information. These models also include a customizable Action button, previously only available on Pro models, and come in new colours such as “Teal,” “Pink,” and “Ultramarine.”
Apple also introduced the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, with 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screens, respectively. These higher-end models are powered by the A18 Pro chip, designed to optimize Apple Intelligence, an AI system first revealed earlier this year. The Pro models include enhanced camera systems, featuring a 12MP telephoto lens and an ultrawide camera, and are available in “Black,” “White,” “Natural,” and “Desert” colour options.
In addition to the iPhones, Apple unveiled the AirPods 4. While they maintain the familiar design, they now offer improved comfort and enhanced audio quality thanks to the H2 chip, which supports spatial audio. Active noise cancellation is available, but only as an optional add-on at an additional cost.
On the smartwatch front, Apple released the Apple Watch Series 10, featuring a thinner, lighter design with a larger, rounder display that is 40% brighter than previous models. Most of the enhancements are software-based, driven by Apple Intelligence, including a new health feature that can test for sleep apnea.
