Skepta’s iconic Mains label has re-emerged after a four-year hiatus, making a dazzling comeback at London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024. Building anticipation, the label unveiled a highly-anticipated collaboration with Dover Street Market, now available for fashion aficionados.
Mains’ debut runway show was a resounding success, showcasing a wide range of athleisure attire, impeccable tailoring, and groundbreaking collaborations with renowned brands like Beats, PUMA, and Timberland.
Skepta’s London roots deeply influenced this collection, elevating Mains’ signature pieces while maintaining their everyday appeal. The use of premium British fabrics brought a touch of luxury, with the Mains Drill Suit receiving a lavish update in raw silk. Notably, the collection featured boucle bombers, boasting an embroidered ‘M’ personally designed by Skepta.
The star-studded front row included celebrities such as Louis Theroux, A$AP Ferg, Matthew Williams, Naomi Campbell, Clint419, and Stormzy. Models graced the runway in sporty ensembles, flaunting Mains-branded tennis rackets, metallic tracksuits, and eye-catching 3M Puma trainers. Unique pieces like tweed robes, Miami-inspired shirts, and mesh singlets garnered attention.
Skepta made the event a family affair, with his brother JME walking the catwalk, and the show’s heartfelt finale featured Skepta and his daughter, River. The collection incorporated personal elements, including denim jackets adorned with Skepta’s illustrations of iconic locales.
Behind the scenes, chief designer Mikey Pearce and graphic designer Johnson Orchid expertly blended luxury, sport, and lifestyle, creating what Skepta hailed as “the next evolution of MAINS.”
In closing, Skepta hinted at a follow-up collection for the next season, affirming MAINS’ enduring presence in the fashion world.
