British rapper Slowthai, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, appeared in a British court on two charges of rape.

The 28-year-old artist is accused of engaging in non-consensual oral and vaginal penetration with a woman in Oxford in September 2021. Frampton’s court appearance took place via video on Tuesday, during which he only confirmed his personal details.

According to The Guardian, the prosecution’s lawyer, Adam Yar Khan, stated that the case will be triable only on indictment in the Crown Court, which is reserved for the most serious crimes in the UK.

Consequently, the trial will be presided over by a judge and jury. Frampton was granted bail and is set to appear before the Crown Court next month.
