In celebration of Earth Day, Timberland has teamed up with Christopher Raeburn to create a new “Earthkeepers” collection. The collection focuses on minimizing waste and keeping products out of landfills while offering sustainable and eco-friendly designs.
Since Raeburn’s appointment as Timberland’s Global Creative Director, the brand has released numerous sustainably-minded capsules, with the latest being the Timberloop Utility Mid. This shoe is a progressive style that supports the whole foot on difficult terrains, featuring an ergonomic wrap-around design and an OrthoLite footbed. The shoe’s fully circular design ensures that a selection of fabrics and parts can have a second life once the Timberloop Utility Mid has reached the end of its lifespan.
Accompanying the new boot are two apparel pieces: the Engineered Knit Hoodie and the DWR Jacket. Both designs utilize circular design principles to minimize waste at the end of their life. The Engineered Knit Hoodie is designed with panelled detailing and a cozy interior, complemented by leather zippers and knitted tailoring on the sleeves and waist. The DWR Jacket comes as a layering piece with an outer windbreaker and further internal room for extra layering.
The Timberland and Raeburn collaboration is a clear example of the fashion industry’s shift towards sustainability. More and more brands are recognizing the importance of creating eco-friendly designs that have a minimal impact on the environment. With Earth Day becoming more prevalent, the fashion industry has an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to the planet and to encourage its consumers to make more conscious choices.
