Vault by Vans is teaming up with Ray Barbee and Leica for a collection inspired by Barbees experiences as a skate photographer. The collection, titled “Capturing the Journey”, sees the trio collaborate for a very 90’s looking collection.
Capturing the Journey balances light blue and brown against dark red and teal; In a nod to the tradition of classic Vans styles. The OG Authentic LX and each silhouette Ray collaborated on, has a special quote from him embroidered on the left shoe that reads “The joy is in capturing the journey.” As well as the OG Authentic LX, Ray also created his own OG Slip-On LX, OG Old Skool LX and OG SK8-Hi LX shoes.
As well as Rays takes on the classic Vans silhouette, Vans, Leica and Ray will be releasing an apparel line alongside. All items in this line are worn by Ray in his day to day life. Highlighting the apparel line is a “Capturing the Journey” cotton twill Station featuring classic styling, side entry pockets, metal zipper and snaps, as well as Ray’s signature at the back neck. Alongside this, we get a short sleeve cotton Vault by Vans fitted T-shirt in aquatic, as well as a long sleeve tee and pullover. Both of which are printed with his photos which will be presented in an exquisite exhibition in the Leica Gallery Los Angeles.
