Vans has teamed up with Skateistan for a new collection of footwear and apparel. As well as collaborative garments, Vans are set to donate $200k to Skateistan, to support the development of skateboarding.

Skateistan was founded in Afghanistan to empower youth through skateboarding and education. They have since been elevated to the global stage with skateboarding and educational projects across Cambodia, South Africa, Jordan, Bolivia and Kenya.

The collaboration is led by Skateistan’s skate school students’ original takes on the Skate Sk8-Hi, Skate Era, Skate Slip-On shoes. The Skate SK8-HI features a custom Checkerboard print complemented by Skateistan’s feel-good graphics and the organization’s name printed across the outsole. The Skate Era and Skate Slip-On follow suit, with Checkerboard and black uppers embroidered with a smiley-face sun, flower, dove, skateboard and more.

A selection of men and women’s apparel supplement the collaboration. A highlight for the Women’s collection is the cotton twill gas station jacket in black with front zip. “It’s Her Turn” is printed on the back— a nod to Skateistan’s championing of female empowerment through skateboarding. For the Men’s collection the Versa Hoodie leads the way; in a bright lime green designed with a cosy coated cotton fleece that’s also water-resistant.

The Vans X Skateistan collection will be available from November 11th on the Vans Website. You can check out the collection below.
