WhoisOrion has been bridging the gap between hip-hop, drill, R&B and grime. The innovative London-based rapper combines vibrant rhythms with catchy melodic hooks. His music is both catchy and experimental and will surely be a breath of fresh air during this next generation of rappers.
His latest single, Dun Out Ere, released earlier this month along with its visuals. We were given the opportunity to speak to WhoisOrion and here’s what he had to say…
HOW ARE YOU DOING?
I’m alive, so I’m doing good.
IF YOU COULD WORK WITH ANY ARTIST DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD CHOOSE AND WHY?
I would choose Eminem easily, he’s a big influence on my music and my lyrical ability. I feel like me and Eminem back to back bar for bar would be phenomenal. Imagine I even put him on some UK music, that would be sick!!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND TO A NEW LISTENER?
I'd say my sound is upbeat, fun and full of punchlines and witty wordplay. I feel like if you listen to my music as well as watch my videos too, it’s as if I’ve taken you into my world, the crazy world of WhoisOrion.
WHAT MOMENT IN YOUR CAREER ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
I am proud of the first song I released under my label. It was such a shock for everyone that followed me before I got signed to see the quality of my video and sound increase and the numbers it did. That was a sick feeling for me.
WHAT'S YOUR SONGWRITING PROCESS?
It honestly varies, sometimes I freestyle on a voice note then rewrite over it. Sometimes I punch in my vocals as I go, or sometimes I just write from scratch. It really depends on my mood or how I’m feeling. To be honest, I write a lot in my bed then I go downstairs to my home studio and get to it.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TOAST TOPPING?
Toast topping LOOL, cheese I guess. Cheesy toast actually pops off, I might have to run that up right now lol.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE DUN OUT HERE MUSIC VIDEO?
It was mainly my manager's idea, we just wanted to make a fun video to reflect the mood of the song. In one of the bars I said “coming like taxi’s I can take it there”, so I think Nigel ran with the fake taxi idea because of that. Also, we thought let's make a ‘Dun Out Ere’ button for content, that's when we came with the game show idea - inspired heavily by “You’ve Been Framed”.
IF YOU COULD OWN ANY GARMENT (INCLUDING SHOES), REGARDLESS OF PRICE, WHAT WOULD YOU GO FOR?
I don’t know, I’m not really into fashion but if I can get something for free I’ll get any expensive watch that appreciates in price so I can sell it in the future.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Waking up every day gives me inspiration, seeing people do good to each other inspires me too. I think what I draw inspiration from is limitless because God gives us inspiration through everything in life, even the most heartbreaking story can give you inspiration.

MUSIC, MUSIC AND MORE MUSIC.
