For Dr. Martens, 2020 has definitely been the year of the 1460. That’s not too surprising given that the English footwear brand is celebrating the iconic boot’s 60th year. In order to celebrate, Dr. Martens has been teaming with a number of other brands and creatives this year, each of which has revamped the boot in their own way.

For the penultimate collaboration, Dr. Martens has teamed up with Japan’s very own brand WTAPS. As for what the duo have done, the 1460 has received a militaristic twist, paying tribute to the utilitarian and rebellious heritage of WTAPS.

Specifically, this collaboration has constructed the 1460 from the usual premium black leather. Interestingly, embossed in this leather are the coordinates of Dr. Martens’ Tokyo based store, while the front of the boot sports a silver steel toe cap. The most notable part of the pair arguably comes in the form of its lacing system. This lacing system doesn’t actually feature laces but instead turns to 3x2mm buckle fastenings, 3x 100% nylon webbing and an elastic strap.

Take a look at the Dr. Martens x WTAPS 1460 boot below. If you like what you see then head over to Dr. Martens online store on the 28th of November to cop yourself a pair.
