The American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist that is Kim Gordon was not only a founding member of Sonic Youth but the co-founder of X-Girl too. The brand, created by Kim and her friend Daisy von Furth, looked to help provide the new generation of teenagers with the clothing that reflected the emerging attitude in the 80s and 90s.
The grungy and punk aesthetic of X-Girl is often paired with one footwear brand in particular, unsurprisingly, that brand is Dr. Martens. On top of this, I think we can all agree that the two models that most reflect these attitudes from DM’s lineup is the Jadon boot and 1461 shoe. This was likely why the duo decided to put their heads together for a brand new collaborative capsule.
The two-piece collection looks to celebrate the ‘Girl’s Movement’ and 90s alternative style in general. Constructed from debossed leather, the pair features thick laces, a gunmetal dog tag and a dual-branded sock liner. Rounding off the black Jadon is a stacked Quad platform, while the green and black 1461 sits on an elevated Bex sole.
