Known for his ridiculously large build, Hafthor Bjornsson, also known as the Mountain from Game of Thrones, not too surprisingly managed to break Eddie Hall’s record for the heaviest deadlift at 501kg. Hall, a UK-based strongman had held the world-record deadlift since 2016 but is now looking to take his pride back in the ring rather than the gym.

To be more accurate, after lifting the arm-bursting weight Bjornsson announced that he had just signed a seven-figure contract with Core Sports and that his first event with the sporting organisers to be to fight Eddie Hall himself. It will be an interesting one, with Hafthor having the height advantage, standing at 6’9” versus Hall’s height of 6’3”.

The tension will be high as the two athletes have clashed over the years. For example, Bjornsson claimed that he was robbed of first place at the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2017, a title that Hall won. While Hall is saying that Bjornsson’s record shouldn’t count as it took place at The Mountain’s home gym and not in competition with official judges.

As for when the fight will take place, we will have to wait and see, however, if you sign up to our newsletter we will be the first to let you know.
