The renowned English artist, entrepreneur, and art collector that is Damien Hirst has just revealed his latest work to the world, and to the delight of many, it arrives supporting the UK’s National Health Service.

Specifically, the piece titled ‘Butterfly Rainbow’ sees Hirst utilise his iconic butterfly wing motif in a way that geometrically builds up a rainbow. The original print was debuted when he was just 26-years-old in his 1991 piece, In and Out of Love, which used butterfly wings to symbolize death and resurrection.

When it came to this new work, Hirst thought it was only fitting to use the motif depict a rainbow, given that it’s now a symbol used in the UK to show support to the NHS in these trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hirst stated: “I wanted to do something to pay tribute to the wonderful work NHS staff are doing in hospitals around the country. The rainbow is a sign of hope and I think it is brilliant that parents and children are creating their own version and putting them up in the windows of their homes.”

The support doesn’t stop there, in fact, Hirst is printing these as limited editions and will be sold with all of the proceeds getting donated to the NHS. As for how you can be one of these buyers, Hirst said he would announce how via his Instagram soon.
