Prada’s upcoming collaboration with the German sportswear brand Adidas has been getting sneakerheads and fashion-lovers alike excited to no end. However, this was always expected given that it’s the first time the two design conglomerates have met on a project.
Well, just today Prada and adidas officially unveiled exactly what we can expect from the collaborative Superstar sneaker, and the reception has been mixed, to say the least. Specifically, the pair arrives with a seemingly blank design, adorned only with Prada branding by the heel, adidas branding on the tongue, and the shoe’s serial number stamped into the ankle collar.
Apart from these features, the Superstar opts for an all-white construction, this simplicity being what has triggered the vast majority of the sneaker’s online criticism. However, the duo has implied that they were wanting to focus on quality for this project, not eye-catching designs.
For instance, every piece of the Prada Superstar is made in Italy by Prada. Full-grain leather is used for the upper, which also features adidas Originals’ faithful rubber shell toe, rounded out by a herringbone-pattern rubber cupsole.
As well as this Prada x adidas sneaker, the collaboration includes the Prada bowling bag for adidas, crafter from calf leather with a sports nylon strap. The body of the bag boasts the twinned logos of Prada and adidas Originals. Both products are offered in pared-back “Optic” white with black detailing. Availability is, as you can see from the shoe and bag’s detailing, limited to 700 pieces so get ready to spend a little extra.
Take a look at the Prada x adidas collaboration below, if you like what you see then you’re in luck as the selection is set to drop on the 4th of December with pricing info still yet to be announced.
