July of 2017 saw a disturbing video hit the internet, in which we see the American fashion designer and entrepreneur, A$AP Bari, pulling bedsheets off a woman while saying “you fucked my assistant, now you’re going to suck my dick.” This was before it escalated even further as Bari pulled the duvet off her, slapped her behind while saying: “shut the fuck up bitch,” as she tells him to “stop.”
As for what the reaction to this was, initially the victim – who can’t be named for legal reasons – sued for $1 million dollars, however, this was before Bari stated that the video was “misleading” and that he has “resolved this issue amicably among all parties as adults.”
If you think the story stops there then you would be mistaken as Bari seemingly tried to regain some of his pride by countersuing the woman for “defamation and civil extortion for allegedly pressuring him into settling.” This, of course, didn’t get very far and now as of yesterday, Bari, whose real name is Jabari Shelton, has officially been found guilty of sexual assault. Specifically, the 27-year-old VLONE designer appeared in the London court to plead guilty to one of the charges, consequently, he was ordered to pay a £4,000 fine and £2,500 compensation to his victim. He will also have to pay £2,500 in court charges.
