It wasn’t long ago that we saw the likes of Gucci and Burberry start focusing their attention on synthetic fur due to the increasing pressure from animal-lovers to drop the form of textiles. Well, it looks like the American fashion label that is Coach has taken a page out of their book and have decided to halt the use of any real mink, fox, coyote or rabbit fur in the production of their garments from now on.
Specifically, the decision came shortly after the global sales in real-fur continued to decline and make it apparent that there has been a shift in the fashion industry’s consumer choices. As for what Coach’s CEO, Joshua Schulman, had to say about the change, he said in a statement that the change is “truly meaningful milestone for the brand.” Adding that he is interested to see which other mainstream brands will join the fur-free way of production.
