Toyota Is Set to Partner with Uber After a $500 Million Investment

After announcing plans to invest over $2.8 Billion in self-driving technologies, it looks like the Japanese car manufacturer is looking to further their work into the industry.
Specifically, Toyota and Uber have now teamed up with Toyota offering $500 million to the peer-to-peer ride-sharing company as a way of kicking off their upcoming partnership.As for what the upcoming partnership is, Uber will agree to use their own self-driving technology equipped on Toyota’s Sienna minivans as a part of their service titled “Autono-MaaS” with the project’s pilot set to take place in 2021.
As for what Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, had to say about this, he released a statement to the Wall Street Journal that read: “Uber’s advanced technology and Toyota’s commitment to safety and its renowned manufacturing prowess make this partnership a natural fit. I look forward to seeing what our teams accomplish together.”
