Following the barrage of sexual assault allegations that came out regarding Kevin Spacey, everyone distanced themselves from the American actor, producer and singer and rightfully so. However, the distributor of the ‘Billionaire Boys Club film,’ Vertical Entertainment, confirmed that the release would go ahead earlier this year and that’s exactly what happened.
Specifically, the day the movie dropped was the same day it fell to the bottom of the box office as it raked in just £98 despite the strong cast, the two main characters being played by Taron Egerton and Ansel Elgort. As for why Vertical Entertainment didn’t pull the movie, they had this to say: “We hope these distressing allegations pertaining to one person’s behaviour, that were not publicly known when the film was made almost two and a half years ago and from someone who has a small, supporting role in Billionaire Boys Club, does not tarnish the release of the film.” I think it’s safe to say however that we won’t be seeing another film featuring Kevin Spacey anytime soon.
