The Canadian model, actor and artist, Rick Genest, was best known for his head-to-toe tattoos that coined him the name ‘Zombie Boy’ as most depicted detailed bones and organs including skull-like artwork across the whole of his face. This aesthetic consequently brought in a lot of interest from companies as Genest modelled for French fashion designer Thierry Mugler, starred as the face of Jay-Z’s Rock-A-Wear fashion label, and appeared in Vogue Japan, however, none of them appeared to have as closer connection as Lady Gaga who featured Rick in her ‘Born This Way’ music video.
Upon hearing of his tragic death and apparent suicide Lady Gaga took to Twitter to not only inform fans of the 32-year-old’s passing but to spread awareness of mental health issues. Specifically, Genest was found at his home located in Montreal, Canada, and although it appeared he had taken his own life it has not been officially confirmed as of yet. Take a look below to see what Lady Gaga had to say on Twitter.
The suicide of friend Rick Genest, Zombie Boy is beyond devastating. We have to work harder to change the culture, bring Mental Health to the forefront and erase the stigma that we can’t talk about it. If you are suffering, call a friend or family today. We must save each other. pic.twitter.com/THz6x5JlpB
