Following France’s 4 – 2 win over Croatia in the World Cup final the victor’s jersey was set to receive a second star to represent their achievement.  This, of course, would have meant that Nike – France’s official kit providers – could put up for sale the new edition of the jersey for all of those who want to remember the iconic win.

However, despite Nike’s Champs-Élysées store preparing for the win in advance they clearly had their work cut out for them as the demand for the two-starred kit was far greater than expected. This consequently led to fights breaking out amongst the supporters  leading to the store closing and riot police being called in to control the crowd. To then add insult to injury the kit’s official release date was then pushed back to the next day (today.)
